The Wellington Hotel

www.wellingtonhotel.com.au

Tonight’s venue was the Wellington Hotel, which proved to be a winner. The hotel is an interesting one – it looks a bit obscure and seedy from the outside but, once you take the plunge and wander inside, it is a very nicely presented place. Also situated very conveniently near to Adelaide Oval, which makes it an ideal place to go before or after a cricket game.

The schnitzel was a good size, and extremely tasty. I don’t give five stars for taste at the drop of a hat, but I really enjoyed this meal. The meat was juicy and tender on the inside, and was complemented by a crisp crumbing and flavoursome gravy (which was supplied in a separate cup – extra points for that). It was thicker than your average schnitty as well, so it filled me up nicely.

The sides were adequate without being extraordinary and at $19 (including gravy and parmi if desired), I feel as though I got decent value for money. If you’re looking for a place to eat in North Adelaide, you could do a lot worse than the Wellington.

The Verdict: Good size, great taste – give it a go.
